Maui trip was all about the Water
Yes the world is falling apart but Shelley and I decided to Go to Maui and it was wonderful in ways we never expected. My wife and I trips to Hawaii have always been about the where land meets the water. Maui's beach have a rusty color. The water has soft green color that reflects the coral reefs that line the beach and shoreline. It around the reefs that magic of Maui reveals it's self. The bright colors of tropical fish and the smooth movements of sea turtles as they fly away into caves to get away for tourists in the rented snorkel gear. The next sea creature that totally captures your attention are the humpbacked whales that are vacationing in Maui just like we were. The whales provide hours of entertainment for shoreside hill McGregor Point. We stay near near Kamaole Beach 1 at Maui Coast Hotel in Kihei see my review of the hotel on trip advisor.

Close Gitmo, End the War on Terror, Obama Shows the World Wide Leadership
What a difference three days makes
Today President Obama starts his forth Day in Office and as the photo below shows many Americans could not wait for the end of the dark night the was the bush presidency.
The End of the War on Terror is a Key Point of Light that Obama Presidency is sending to the world. No More Gitmo and it's water boarding. The State Department under Hillary Clinton will use a robust diplomacy to spread the message of democracy around the world.
Since President Obama has asked Americans to part of this change and in my small way I want and International investigation of Israelis use of White Phosphorus in its attack on Gaza

Solstice Festival in Mist of Snowstorm was Wonderful
Vancouver Secret Lantern Festival this seemed well more like the secret this year because in happen in the middle of a large snow storm here in Vancouver B.C. Only about 250 people attended this year to see the Morrismen sing there classic Wassail this year the did not build a fire sculpture to burn and a sign of the added daily light of the sun. Festival provided wonderful fire dancers to mark the winter solstice.

During the short days of winter you can really see how many condos are not inhabited in Vancouver mostly likely simply being held as investments. Vancouver unused condos have become part of our cities housing crisis.
